The Tale of Old Silverback

πŸ”₯πŸ”₯ HOT OFF THE PRESS πŸ”₯πŸ”₯

“King of the forest, old Silverback, fell down with a thump on the soft mulch-littered ground, and the whole forest held their breath. They realised something was wrong.”

A teaser for my children’s short story which I am SUPER excited to announce is now finally available in print as part of the Sutherland FAW anthology Webs of Life; a collection of short stories written by the many talented writers in the group.

It has taken several months of planning and organizing, and we can’t wait to officially launch the book at our Writers Unleashed festival on Saturday 17th August at Gymea Tradies in Sydney.

Also had my first taste of a writer’s reading yesterday. My workplace organised a BBQ and had me read the story. Was nerve racking and exciting at the same time. Happy to say the story was well received with lots of laughter and congratulations from everyone.

Enjoyed sharing that part of my life with my colleagues. To work at a place that encourages and supports employees in a life outside of work is heart-warming.

I’m feeling a bit more like a real writer today and it feels damn good.

If you would like a copy please DM me. Pre-orders before the festival at a discounted rate of $12 plus postage.

Today’s positive…a great start to my week. Early morning mediation followed by short yoga session. Productive day at work and tonight I managed to get to the gym and put together newsletter for my writers group. Feeling pretty good about my day. How was your Monday?

Today’s positive…feeling proud to be renominated as Vice President and Social Media/Newsletter officer for our local writers group. Nice to be valued and good to give back to a group providing support and encouragement to all writers.

Today’s positive… an all round successful and inspiring day. Our writers festival went super smooth and my consult with Lex Hirst from Pantera Press was extremely helpful. Feedback was very positive and some excellent constructive tips on tightening it up. I now know what I need to do next and Im feeling motivated and keen. But tonight its feet up and glass of wine for this exhausted but happy girl.

Today’s positive….in spite of feeling a bit tired today after a big weekend I do feel very proud.

I managed to finish my submission to the Richell Prize ahead of schedule and sent it off yesterday afternoon

***Chapter synopsis

***And a 750 word statement of what winning would mean to me

Certainly a lot more work than expected but a great exercise, and I am feeling proud.

Being a parent is exhausting, nerve racking and scary. But the rewards are there in bucket loads. Today was such a day.

To read my daughter’s blog about her work at Ideo filled me with a warm glow of pride. Today is definitely a good day to be a mum

Here is the link. I have to boast a little πŸ˜πŸ’•
